Paws at Rest is unique, we also own and operate a busy, highly-regarded, pet boarding kennel called Country Spaw and Resort, which has served the Ottawa region for years.
Through the “SPAW”, as it’s often called by patrons, we are actively involved in the lives of many pets and their owners. Through years of active personalized service we have come to know and understand the concerns, priorities and preferences of pet owners. We understand the special relationship that the owners have with their pets.
For several years we owned and operated a successful pet food and supply store in Manotick before opening Country Spaw and Resort in 2009.
As pet lovers we have experienced first hand the pain of losing pets over the years. We, Francine and Maria, know what a traumatic experience it can be.
After the agonizing loss of a beloved cat in April of 2013, the ensuing process convinced us of the need to start a pet funeral service to help people during such a difficult time.
We are well known and respected in the community and have a good working relationship with the Vets in the area.
We offer a caring, personalized service that can be as detailed or as simple as one wants with the goal of getting pet owners and their families through the grief cycle as smoothly as possible.
Pets will be treated with the utmost respect.
Francine and Maria are members of the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories (IAOPCC), the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA), and the Pet Loss Professional Alliance (PLP).
We believe that we truly can give pet owners a service with the utmost care and compassion.
